Palakkad is favourite among historians as well. The majestic Palakkad Fort, a land mark of the district, was built by Hyder Ali in 1766 AD. Though the fort has seen many a good and bad days, including the british rule, it still retains its original glory to a great extent. The fort, now a renowned tourist attraction, is under the Archeological Survey of India. |
